Body Composition Analysis

Body composition analysis

Our ACCUNIQ BC380 body composition analyser provides a fast and easy comprehensive assessment of an individual's body composition using bioelectrical impedance analysis (BIA) technology in less than one minute. It measures key metrics such as body fat percentage, muscle mass, total body water, visceral fat level, basal metabolic rate (BMR), and segmental lean analysis to give an in-depth understanding of overall health. The analyser offers high accuracy and precision, making it ideal for medical and personalised health and fitness recommendations. Muscle mass and muscle distribution can be measured very precisely and this is an important prognostic biomarker for current and future heath.

ECG

A Resting ECG (Electrocardiogram) is a quick, non-invasive test that records the heart’s electrical activity while the body is at rest. It involves placing small electrode patches on the skin to detect the heart’s electrical activity. It helps detect arrhythmias, heart disease, and other cardiac conditions by measuring heart rate and rhythm.

A person lies down for an ECG scan with electrodes attached to their chest and abdomen, all connected by wires. The soothing background is a soft teal, complimenting the patients dark shorts.
A man runs on a treadmill in a medical examination room, wearing electrode sensors on his chest. A technician monitors from a nearby computer displaying heart activity. The setting is bright and clinical.

Exercise ECG

An Exercise ECG (Stress Test) evaluates heart function under physical exertion, using a treadmill while connected to an ECG machine. Electrodes placed on the chest, arms, and legs monitor heart rate, rhythm, and electrical activity as exercise intensity increases. This test helps detect coronary artery disease, irregular heartbeats, and exercise-induced symptoms, providing valuable insights into cardiovascular health and fitness levels. We can also use the energy output at maximum heart rate exercise to measure cardiovascular fitness and as the test follows a standard protocol we can assess trends over time. The cardiovascular fitness is a strong prognostic indicator of a person’s chances of surviving the next decade but also ones health over this time too.

Mammogram

Performed at a nearby breast centre

This scan is considered the gold standard imaging modality for detecting breast cancer early and early detection is extremely important for prognosis. The earlier it is detected the better the outcome . A mammogram is a specialised X-ray of the breast used to detect early signs of breast cancer and other abnormalities, even before symptoms appear. It can detect very small cancers before they cause signs or symptoms.. his quick and non-invasive screening helps identify tiny tumours or changes in breast tissue, improving early detection and treatment outcomes. Recommended for routine breast health screening, for women over 40 or those at higher risk, a mammogram is a vital tool in preventative care. If requested, the mammogram is performed at a nearby breast centre of excellence. This can be prebooked or added after the health assessment.

A computer monitor displaying two breast mammogram images with diagnostic data. The background shows a blurred figure, possibly a healthcare professional or patient. The overall tone is clinical and focused on medical imaging.

One Part Ultrasound

One part ultrasound (e.g. thyroid)

An ultrasound is a safe, non-invasive imaging test that uses high-frequency sound waves to create real-time images of the body’s internal structures. A quick and painless procedure helps diagnose medical conditions, guide treatments, and provide valuable insights into your health with precision and clarity. At Lumen, we can perform additional body parts within our health assessment packages or can offer this as a stand-alone scan.

One Part MRI

Stand-alone scan (e.g. lumbar spine, knee, hip, ankle joint with audiovisual sensory in-bore experience)

An MRI (Magnetic Resonance Imaging) scan is a non-invasive, x ray free imaging technique that uses powerful magnets and radio waves to create detailed images of the body's organs, tissues, and joints. MRI helps detect injuries, tumours, neurological disorders, and other medical conditions, providing critical insights for accurate diagnosis and treatment planning. The procedure is painless and safe, ensuring a comfortable experience while delivering precise results for your healthcare needs. Our state of the art 3 Tesla MRI scanner has very high resolution and a wider bore with a built-in audio-visual experience to improve comfort. Our clients can enjoy watching a film or can listen to music whist they are being scanned At Lumen, we can perform additional body parts within our health assessment packages or can offer this as a stand-alone scan.

Five Part MRI

MRI scans of brain, the brain arteries, abdomen, pelvis and central arteries with audiovisual sensory in bore experience.

A person is inside an MRI machine in a medical room, surrounded by equipment and screens. A monitor displays images of brain scans. The room is well-lit with soft purple lighting.
A person holds a tablet displaying medical imaging scans and data labeled Liver MultiScan. The screen shows colorful graphs and images of liver scans, with various metrics and details visible.

Perspectum Liver multiparametric MRI scan

Available as a stand-alone scan

This is a special MRI scan of the liver which takes less than 10 minutes to perform and can provide our doctors with important information about the health of the liver. It uses special software to analyse specific metrics which relate to:
- Liver inflammation/fibrosis
- Liver fat- which can be measured precisely as a liver fat percentage.
- Liver iron-to determine if liver iron is in the expected range. It has also been shown to outperform FibroScan® TE (transient elastography), FIB-4 blood test, and have similar performance to invasive liver biopsy. perspectum.com/products/livermultiscan

Cardiac MRI scan

This scan requires contrast and looks at the heart structure and function but can also assess tissue characterisation of the cardiac muscle.

It is therefore particularly important when looking for scar tissue within the heart muscle such as following a myocardial infarct (heart attack) but also for post inflammation such as in myocarditis. This is particularly useful post-Covid as some people develop myocarditis and it can be part of long Covid.

CT Lung Assessment

This is a low dose CT scan of the lungs which can use AI software analysis to produce a detailed report of lung health and uses lung mapping technology.

A modern medical imaging room featuring a CT scanner. The scanner has a circular opening with a sliding bed. Theres a monitor and control panel on the wall, and the room is brightly lit with white walls and flooring.
A hand pointing at a chest X-ray image displayed against a light source. The X-ray shows the bones and structure of the ribcage and spine. The person examining the X-ray appears to be wearing a white coat.

Lung Cancer Screening CT

This CT scan can be performed if clinical criteria are met to screen for lung cancer and lung nodules.

Computer Tomography Coronary Artery Scan (CTCA)

This is a high resolution CT scan which can measure the calcium score but can also look inside the main coronary arteries to determine if any soft plaque is present and this can be analysed to see if there are any high risk features or if there are any narrowings (stenosis) of the coronary arteries. Most of the lung fields can also be analysed and reported by thoracic radiologists at the same time to maximise the benefit of the scan.

Medical imaging of a heart in four perspectives, showing detailed views of the organ with visible arteries and veins. The images highlight the hearts structure against a dark background, with faint medical interface elements visible.
A person is lying on their back inside an MRI machine, wearing dark clothing. A healthcare professional in a mask operates the machines control panel, observing the process. The setting appears to be a medical imaging room.

Calcium Score

This is a low dose CT scan of the heart which uses a computer software to measure the level of calcium deposition in the coronary arteries taking blood to the heart muscle and is used as a risk stratification tool for heart disease.

Sexually Transmitted Disease (STD ) Profiles

These are usually performed on a combination of urine and blood samples which can be easily taken on the day and can be processed in as little as 4 hours depending on the profile being tested. The profile will be determined by the doctor based on the clinical history.
